Terry Gill qualifed as an RAF pilot in 1956; was a front-line Canberra squadron pilot and flight commander before becoming a flying instructor in 1961 (graduating from the RAF Central Flying School with a distinguished pass).
Attended the Empire Test Pilot's School, then at Farnborough, in 1963 before completing a tour of duty as an experimental test pilot on aeroplanes and helicopters at the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough. Became an Air Adviser at the British High Commission in Ottawa after attending the Canadian Forces College in Toronto.
In 1973 Terry joined the Civil Aviation Authority as an Operations Officer.
He was Head of Flightcrew Licensing for five years and Head of the General Aviation Department for three years before retiring in 1992. For the past ten years Terry has trained flying instructors at a major flying school near London.
Terry Gill has a degree in mathematics, is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, is a qualified teacher and was the author of the Cessna Pilot's Centre (CPC) training package issued in 1978 which is still used by many flying schools.
A civil flying instructor and PPL examiner since 1976. He has been training adviser to the Air League Educational Trust for the past ten years and, in this capacity recently prepared some helpful information about learning to fly in UK. We've included this information in 'Your Questions'.
